My assumption is that there will be no immediate war between the West and Russia over Ukraine. Russia is sabre rattling. What it wants are the sanctions lifted, and de facto recognition of its control of Crimea and the Donbas region of Ukraine. All of which I think it will get in time.
The bipartisan pro-war reaction in the media I think comes from, on the Republican side, our deep economic motivation, and an equally powerful cultural inclination to MAKE WAR. On the Democratic side it a classic foreign crisis diversion to draw attention away from the Biden’s administration’s disastrous domestic agenda.
