If you are largely conservative and support Trump, you have doubtless noticed that the left or progressives (whatever we mean by these terms) appear to truly hate the man. He has been described as evil, stupid, sinister, immoral, and corrupt. What you will not often hear from progressives beneath this din is a list of those policies that he has embraced and promotes to which they are opposed.
What conservatives need to remember is that the left so loathes Trump, not because of his hair, his brash New York Yankee arrogance, or because he has been a lady’s man. The left hates him because they hate the right.
The left hates Trump because he has managed to unite a broad coalition of disparate groups that united represent an existential threat to their revolution. That revolution being the Cultural Revolution of the 1960’s. This revolution has given us the welfare state that has sapped the vitality out of our culture and weakened the bonds of family, the basic building block of humanity. This revolution has given us Sexual Liberation which beginning in earnest in the 1970’s has since eroded the bonds of family and resulted in the mass production of broken people that has greatly weakened the fabric of society.
Additionally the moneyed interests hate him because he has harnessed the forces that are opposed to a globalism that has enriched them at the expense of a broader prosperity and the economic ruination of vast swathes of the American heartland, think The Rust Belt.
The forces arrayed behind Trump do in fact represent an existential threat to the post WWII order and neither the ideologues on the left or the oligarchs that profit from the system will go quietly into the night.
There is no reconciling the two sides. We are a house divided and troubled times are before us.
The good news is that conservatives will win in the age before us because we have common sense on our side, while progressivism destroys its adherents and globalism has no soul. Together they are indeed a culture of death.
